Hopelessly abridged, but here we go:

I was born
in Cologne, Germany,  over 49 years ago, as Astrid Gütt (Guett). My sister Annette still lives in Cologne, with her husband and two very lovely daughters. So, it is interesting to go back once in a while.

I am currently living
in Manchester, UK, with my husband of four years, Mark, and stepdaughter Izzy. This is after spending some of my late teens living in a little village near Cologne, student years in Berlin, after that India, near Mumbai, altogether 10 years in London and in between a year in the USA, in beautiful New England in Massachusetts.

Not that location as such matters that much…. apart of cause from having to deal with what it means to be born German in Germany… and London and Berlin being absolutely cool cities to live in.

I am a graphic designer.
For my design work, please check the Design page and  SMaRT Design & Print (Socially Minded and Responsible Trading™. That’s smart!).

Since 2010 I am running a small design agency called SMaRT Design & Print (SMaRT – Socially Minded and Responsible Trading. That’s smart.) as a social enterprise for First Step Trust.

First Step Trust (FST) is a national charity that provides real work, training and employment opportunities for people excluded from ordinary working life because of mental health problems or other disadvantages.

The studio is located at FST Salford, in the medium secure unit at Prestwich hospital. In the moment three patients of the unit are working with me. During 2012/13 I am guiding them through their Level 2 NVQ in Digital Artwork with Manchester College.

We provide professional design and print management services, including branding/logo design. Projects include design, illustration and layout for stationery, flyers, tickets, brochures, magazine, annual reports and exhibition design.

Clients are mostly from the health, non for profit, education, publishing and corporate sector (NHS, Citizens Advice Bureau, Royal College of Psychiatrist, Manchester Drug Services, Manchester Mind, Imagine, Anglo Ltd., SAMstore).
